First ride of 2014

It seems I’ve been waiting forever(!) to post this. I won’t comment further on the weather this year as it seems everyone north of Orlando has enjoyed the same crappy spring and there really is nothing more to be said about that.
Suffice it to say that in the last 5 years my latest (until now) first ride was April 13 (5 weeks ago), and the earliest was March 18 (two months ago).
But today the weather and my schedule cooperated just long enough for me to take a not-so-quick trip to Timmie’s for a coffee and a doughnut. TIM HORTONS - Tim Hortons celebrates 50-years freshThe nearest Tim Horton’s is about 35 kilometres away but that’s really too close to enjoy much two-wheel time. So instead I went the l-o-n-g way round and posted a nice first ride distance of 130 kilometres.
A Tim’s coffee never tasted so good.

I would have ordered an Iced Cappuccino instead ! You didn't mention what kind of donut you ordered ? I was just curious . . . I like to order their TimBits as there's more variety

    1. Bob: LOL. That's actually what I had but I didn't think anyone would know what it was. Along with a honey cruller.

My first choice would be a Honey Cruller too, but washed down with an Iced Cappuccino and then a small box of TimBits to take away. Their Lemonade frozen slush is also good but you get throat freeze if you drink too fast and it really hurts

  2. A long first ride of the season is always best. Glad that you were finally able to get out.

  3. YEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAA!
(What Bob didn't understand was that it's still hot coffee weather here even if the bikes are finally out.)

  4. Honey cruller, you don't usually see those down here. Timmie's is an icon. A perfect destination for your first ride of the year.

    1. Trobairitz: In fact a perfect (and very popular) destination for just about any ride.

  5. A Tim's coffee should go with a donut (I hope you had one). My favourite is the Boston Cream by the way. Too bad there are not Timmy's in Germany... on the other hand... less calories...

  6. Man I'm glad I don't live there! We're just coming into winter down here in the southern hemisphere but even though it lasts through until August/September there will still be many riding days, our winter's mild, we ride often and just carry rain gear with us.

  7. Dave, after two weeks in Italy, we're addicted to espresso in all its forms. I think the only place Timmies' coffee would work for us now is somewhere on the 401 and only if we're a captive audience :)

  8. We got spoiled with Italian coffee. Timmies wouldn't work in Italy. Heck Italy doesn't even have a single Starbucks. I'm afraid the only time Timmie's coffee starts to be appealing, is on the 401 when we are a captive audience.

Now throw in a Honey Cruller and a Timmie's coffee becomes a thing to savor.
